2nd Place Winner: "Lucky" (Lucky he is not firewood Lucky he is famous)
Entered by Rudy Kempf
3rd Place Winner: "Splinter"
The winning name for Sir Pierpont of Mesopotamia was chosen based on the founder of Mesopotamia, Ohio.
In 1798 Pierpont Edwards of Connecticut paid $2500.00 for the 25 square miles of wilderness that is currently known as Mesopotamia Township.
The following spring, John Starke Edwards, son of Pierpont Edwards, journeyed along on foot, carrying an axe and knapsack across the Pennsylvania frontier into the tangled forest. He cut the first tree that ever felled by an axe upon his father's land. The fragrance which the sunshine drew out of a rich forest floor set him agog with plans to get a settlement started. He offered one hundred acres of free land to the first five families to come and stay five years, and fifty acres to the first five single men.
2nd Place Winner: Lucky
Lucky was chosen as the 2nd place winner not only based on his name but on the creativity behind the name, which the winner also submitted. This winning name was chosen because the meaning behind Lucky is humorous, "Lucky he is not firewood, Lucky he is famous". We found this entry to be unique and very true for Sir Pierpont.
3rd Place Winner: Splinter
Splinter was chosen as the 3rd place winner due to the truth in the name. Being that Sir Pierpont and his buggy are made completely out of wood, Splinter was a fitting 3rd place winner.
Thank you all who participated in this contest, we had a fun time looking through the various names. Over 500 names were submitted!
