MESOPOTAMIA, OHIO

End of the Commons General store and the Schaden family unveil Sir Pierpont & his buggy, the world’s largest wooden horse and buggy. The un-named wooden horse was erected in May directly across the street from End of the Commons General store located in the center of Mesopotamia at the corner of routes 87 & 534.

This statue is now complete with a buggy sporting 7 foot tall wheels and rising over 14 feet off of the ground. In keeping with the style of the horse, artist Chris McConnell built the buggy out of aged 2 x 4’s. The horse and buggy are in proper proportion to a real horse and buggy. The entire statue is 32’ long and 14’7” tall. The horse is approximately 29 hands.

End of the Commons General Store & the Schaden family purchased the wooden horse and contracted local artist Chris McConnell to construct the buggy. The completed horse and buggy will remain at its current location in Mesopotamia. The statue was created as a tribute to the countryside of the tri-county area. A local Amish man is creating a traditional harness with reigns to fit the large horse.

A contest was held to name the wooden horse and the winning name, Sir Pierpont of Mesopotamia, was chosen out of 500 entrants. To learn about why this name was chosen CLICK HERE.
